Weekend update!

Kera’s latest bag here. It’s one that she made for our buddy Jelle that runs singlespeed.nl. One of the few places in Europe that we can get 29’er parts easily. Thanks Jelle for being our supplier.

Check out some of Kera’s other recent bags here. She’s been doing some really cool and interesting designs for people.

Get used to the above logo. For ’08 I’m switching teams over to Big Wheel Racing. As many of you know, I’ve been with Boulevard/KCOI/BikeSource for many years now. They’ve treated me very well and many people on the team are good friends. The primary reason for leaving is to start working on setting up a Euro version of Big Wheel Racing for ’09. So, if you are looking for a chance to sponsor a Euro 29’er/road/CX and/or multi-sport team, give me a shout.

Ah… K.C. does another brilliant deed. Just think… K.C. has one of the highest murder rates in the U.S. and is so worried about a nearly naked cyclist that they basically tackle him to get him off his bike. Come on folks. Does anyone else think that their ideals might be a bit misplaced? Hmmmm?

We have two new alien roommates. They do good work though so we don’t mind.

Sweet thank you gift. Keras boss gave us this 2 liter bottle of his local beer. It was a thank you gift for letting he and his brothers stay at our place during Oktoberfest and before we’d moved in. It worked out well for all of us. The ‘normal’ 1/2 liter bottle is on the left. It was a very yummy Oktoberfest version from Hacker-Pschorr (a München brand).

What does one say here. Hmmm. First, I'm a "trailing spouse". Kera, my wife, works hard and keeps us afloat. I work... not nearly as hard and contribute enough to let us have fun. Oh, I also make bags for bikepacking under the name of SpoK Werks http://www.spokwerks.com I'm an English Teacher (English as a Second Language) here in Germany. It's an amazingly rewarding thing to do. I'd never have believed it until I'd tried it. I also make bikepacking bags under the name SpoK Bags. Just search for us in Flickr. We're adventure nuts (i.e. cycling, travel, life, friends, etc.). We attempt to live each day as fully as we can manage.

  1. That Octoberfest Hacker-Pschorr has been over here in the stwtes for a few years now. It’s one of my favorites, but it comes in regular bottles and caps. I recall drinking it pretty heavily in Durango a few years back at a bar with tons of beer on tap, so it might even comes in kegs. Can’t remember if it was draught….

Welcome to BWR. We’re somewhere in the vortex between the Hell’s Angels, the Gumbies, and the Girls Scouts. You’ll fit right in. 😉

  2. Mmmm, Hacker-Pschorr Octoberfest….Kera’s got a cool boss. Speaking of Kera, those Spok bags are looking great! I think one of my favorites is the one she made for your Dad.

Hey, I didn’t know you guys had a kitty! I like the pic of her playing with the pipe cleaner. Funny how easily cats can be amused. 🙂

  3. There is no way I can help sponser BWR, but how do I get in on that? I’ve got some big wheels, about one gear, race, and live in Europe.
You gotta come up to Erlangen for some Steinbach Bräu, the brewery is right next door so we’ve always got a 2 liter!
