Somehow… I’ve become the Elite. Hmmm….

O.K., I seem to have a new fan, or maybe not so much of a fan. Could be he’s a stalker. I’m not sure. Anyway, his name is George. George didn’t seem to appreciate my commentary on the Garda race and/or my excuses/reasons for having a bad day. If he doesn’t like what write, I suppose that he could quit reading my page. However, he seems to like to keep track of me. Maybe that’s where my stalker thought came from.

So… for George directly from Websters online dictionary…

So.. following the logic of the ELITE I suppose that I need to either be best in class (I’m not.. very often outside of sarcasm), able to exercise power (only through this and a few other outlets), and possibly within the walls of our apartment….only when I’m alone.
Anyway…. I’d rather be called a snob as I have not so much money, power, etc. What I do have is expensive taste and a very stubborn streak. I like what I like and don’t really care so much about the other things. A few of the things that I can be SNOBBISH about….. bikes, coffee, beer and food.
So… George, if you’re going to call me names, please apply the following to me.

What does one say here. Hmmm. First, I'm a "trailing spouse". Kera, my wife, works hard and keeps us afloat. I work... not nearly as hard and contribute enough to let us have fun. Oh, I also make bags for bikepacking under the name of SpoK Werks http://www.spokwerks.com I'm an English Teacher (English as a Second Language) here in Germany. It's an amazingly rewarding thing to do. I'd never have believed it until I'd tried it. I also make bikepacking bags under the name SpoK Bags. Just search for us in Flickr. We're adventure nuts (i.e. cycling, travel, life, friends, etc.). We attempt to live each day as fully as we can manage.

  1. You shold paste his website here as well. Then we can all gang up on him and call him petty names and it will be just like High School. Except this time I’ll be getting laid once in a while.

    I like that idea.

And yes, you can be a bit of a snot, especially when the pants are tightly worn by your better-smelling half. (How was your thirst for a Ti-bike finally if only temporarily quenched…?)

And yeah, I have nothing to bitch about since I haven’t updated my site in something like a month.

  2. aw, you can’t get upset by what folk say on blogs, if we all listened to internerds then we’d probably all have 6 inch huck rigs and brakeless fixies. Which admittedly a lot of us do. I had a point I think.

Ok george, may I call you george? Ah well that’s the rub, on here you can’t tell me not to. Anyway, bikes are good. Opinions are just that, if you don’t like 29ers, single speeds, ti loveliness etc etc then why the hell read a blog by someone who does? Sure you do well in big races, kudos but if good racers wrote good blogs we’d all be someplace else. Draw up a chair and enjoy the mullings, otherwise erase this link from your favourites and replace it with something more to your liking.

    [rant over]

  3. An individual that is intolerant of others and his name is George.

He uses technology to track the comments of others and records what they say.

He resorts to name calling when others disagree with him.

This George guy rides mountain bikes too.

    Is that you Dubya?
